The Pasquino Group, traditionally identified as Menelaus Supporting the Body of Patroclus, captures a moment of profound tragedy from the world of Homeric heroes. A warrior struggles to support the lifeless body of his fallen companion, creating an extraordinary composition in which physical strength and emotional devastation become inseparable.

There is no triumph here. The surviving warrior remains standing, but the weight he carries is more than physical. The fallen body collapses against him while every gesture expresses the desperate effort to protect and recover a companion lost in battle.

The composition is known through ancient Roman marble versions derived from a celebrated Hellenistic Greek prototype, traditionally dated to the third century BC. Among the most famous surviving versions is the monumental group preserved in the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence, one of the great landmarks of classical sculpture.

For centuries, the composition has traditionally been identified with Menelaus carrying the body of Patroclus from the battlefield of Troy. The sculptural type is also connected to the famous Pasquino, one of Rome’s historic “talking statues”, which gave its name to the entire group.

The extraordinary power of the work lies in its contrast. The living warrior is defined by tension, strength and resistance, while the fallen body is completely surrendered to gravity. Their intertwined forms create a composition of exceptional anatomical complexity and emotional intensity.

This artistic reconstruction has been meticulously developed to preserve the dramatic composition, anatomical beauty and sculptural depth of the ancient masterpiece. MATERIAL INFORMATION

This sculpture is crafted in solid high-density resin using museum-grade and prosthetic-quality materials, selected for their exceptional ability to reproduce fine sculptural detail while providing outstanding strength, durability and precision.

These professional materials are used in fields where exceptional detail and long-term performance are essential, including museums, film, theatre and cultural institutions.

We do not use:

• plaster
• mineral composites or stone-powder mixtures
• hollow plastic
• low-detail casting materials

The sculpture is created through a meticulous process of high-precision digital reconstruction and replication, followed by extensive manual finishing in our workshop.

Each sculpture is individually hand-finished in our workshop with our signature White Malta Matte finish.

This warm, refined ivory-white finish has been developed to enhance the sculptural depth of classical works without the cold or artificial appearance of pure white.

Its soft matte surface allows light and shadow to reveal the anatomy, movement and emotional intensity of the composition, emphasizing every fold, facial expression and sculptural detail.

The finish is particularly suited to the Pasquino Group, reinforcing the timeless character of the work while giving the sculpture the visual presence of a classical museum piece.
