The Caryatids of the Erechtheion are among the greatest masterpieces of Classical Greek architecture and sculpture. Constructed during the 5th century BC, at the height of Athens’ Golden Age, the Erechtheion was one of the most sacred buildings on the Acropolis. Dedicated primarily to Athena Polias, the protector of the city, the temple also honored other important deities and legendary heroes closely connected to the origins of Athens.

The Caryatids perfectly embody the ideals of Classical Greek sculpture.
