Pazuzu is a mythological character and the main antagonist of the novel The Exorcist, by William Peter Blatty.
Blatty indicates that Pazuzu is originally from Assyria and Babylon, where Pazuzu was considered the king of the wind demons and the son of the god Hanbi.
In The Exorcist Pazuzu owns Regan MacNeil the novel’s main character. Wizard magazine included in 2006 Pazuzu in its list of the best villains of all time, ranking at number 2.
The American Film Institute included Regan MacNeil (the possessed) in its list of 100 movie villains, placing her in the position number 9.
