LAOCOÖN AND HIS SONS – CLASSICAL GREEK SCULPTURE

Few works in the history of art possess the dramatic power of Laocoön and His Sons, one of the most celebrated masterpieces of classical sculpture.

The composition depicts the final moments of the Trojan priest Laocoön and his two sons as they struggle against the enormous serpents sent by the gods. Every element of the scene is charged with tension: the twisting bodies, the desperate gestures, the powerful anatomy and the expression of suffering on Laocoön’s face create one of the most intense representations of human tragedy ever conceived in sculpture.

The ancient marble group was discovered in Rome in 1506 and immediately recognized as an extraordinary work of antiquity. Its rediscovery had a profound impact on Renaissance art, and Michelangelo himself is traditionally associated with the group’s early admiration and study.

Today, the original sculpture is preserved in the Vatican Museums, where it remains one of the most important and recognizable works of the classical world.

MATERIAL INFORMATION

This sculpture is created in solid high-density photoreactive resin, using materials selected for their exceptional precision, durability and ability to capture extremely fine sculptural detail.

Materials of this type are widely used for high-precision artistic reproductions, professional model-making, cinema, theatre, museums and cultural institutions, where surface definition and dimensional accuracy are essential.

We do not use plaster, mineral composites, stone powder or conventional plastic.

The sculpture is produced through a carefully developed process that combines digital reconstruction, high-precision replication and extensive manual finishing. After replication, every piece is individually cleaned, refined, polished and finished by hand in our workshop.

This process allows us to preserve subtle anatomical forms, textures and details that would be lost with lower-quality materials or conventional casting methods.

The result is a solid, durable and highly detailed hand-finished artwork, created for collectors who value sculptural accuracy and professional craftsmanship.

The final surface is carefully refined through several stages of cleaning, polishing and manual finishing to achieve the appearance shown in the photographs.

Due to the complexity of this composition and the extensive manual finishing process, preparation time may vary depending on the selected size and current workload.

We carefully inspect every sculpture before shipment to ensure the highest possible standard of finish and detail.

PACKAGING AND SHIPPING

Due to the complexity and delicate nature of the composition, each sculpture is carefully protected using reinforced packaging designed specifically for its shape and size.

Particular attention is given to the most delicate areas of the sculpture to ensure maximum protection during international transport.

However, because every sculpture is individually finished by hand, small variations in tone, patina and subtle surface nuances may occur.

These variations are inherent to the artisanal finishing process and make each sculpture unique.
